Gabriel plays mountain dulcimer, a traditional Appalachian instrument.

He also organizes the Reykjavík Trad Sessions, a twice-monthly Irish music session in Iceland.

In 2022, he released the album The Reykjavík Sessions as part of the duo Lonesome Hunter.
